Rear Disc Brake conversion brackets and spacers. This is the bracket need to convert your rear drums to disc brakes using affordable mid eighties Monte Carlo Calipers and Chevrolet truck rotors. We manufacture these brackets by the hundreds using the latest technology. This is a MAJOR upgrade to any Land Cruiser Rear Drum Axle. This bracket is for the semi-floater axle, this was the stock one in all of the 40, 45, 55, 60, and 62's brought in to the US. We run them on our trail trucks to slow down those big meats but works equally well on stock Cruiser's. This conversion can be done for less than repairing the current outdated drum setup. This is an easy upgrade, that you CAN do. After collecting parts, conversion takes no more than a few hours to complete.
This is the ONLY bracket out there that will fit all of your Land Cruisers early to 1990
This bracket is
ready to bolt on, no grinding, no tapping, no cutting, no welding. Brackets are CNC laser cut, and gold zinc anodized. We include parts for early axles, so you get correct spacing (not achievable with bent brackets). Late axles, 81-90, will need six 3/4" spacers. We have sold literally 1000's of these brackets with outstanding results.
In addition to the brackets, you will need to get the following (instruction are more detailed):
2 |
GM Truck Rotors (milled) |
2 |
80's Monte Carlo Calipers (loaded) |
2 |
Conversion Brake Hoses |
8 |
Backing Plate Nuts and Bolts (3/8" x 1 1/2") |
NOTE: 81-90 models had the emergency brake on the rear axle, so to have an emergency brake you must use calipers with this provision or go with out. 81-90 will need 3/4" spacers to correctly space it off of the axle. You can easily make these with pipe.
When doing this job, it is a great time to replace your rear axle seals and differential gasket!
